How to Back Up iPhone With iTunes

Keeping your iPhone regularly can keep you out of the headache if your phone fails to function or disappears in the future. There are several options available for backing up your iPhone settings and data. Follow this guide to make sure your information is safe.

1.Understand what is backed up.
Performing backups through iTunes will store all your Camera Roll settings, contacts, application data, messages and photos. It will not backup any sync, video, or podcast music. You need to re-sync using iTunes after the recovery process.

2. Connect your phone to the computer.
Use the USB cable that came with your phone. If you do not have it, you should buy the cable, because the iPhone uses a special connector.

3. Open iTunes.
Open the Summary tab for your device. You can access it by clicking View then selecting Show Sidebar. Your iPhone will be listed in the left frame of the iTunes window. Click it to open Device Summary.

4. Click Back Up Now.
iTunes will start storing your phone data in an image file that will be stored on your computer. You can check if the backup has been successful by clicking Preferences then selecting the Devices tab. You will see your new backup in the Device backup list.

5. Restore your iTunes backup.
Plug your iPhone into a computer and open iTunes. Select the iPhone from the left frame (see above) and select Restore Backup from the Summary screen. Navigate to the backup file you want to restore.
